We travelled back to England for a 3 week period before returning to Italy and in that short time the renovation project had begun.  Looking at the building rubble outside the house we felt a little trepidation as to what the inside would look like.  The house had been cleared, floor tiles and wooden ceilings etc., ripped out. Some of the floor tiles, the historic and prized ‘cotto lombardo’ were saved to be reused.
